Radio Host

Within garrysmod files are somewhat hidden songs. For example , there is a portal 2 one, along with other random songs I've never heard. How about we just use those for music, but also add a "talk host" function so that people can speak into them

Maybe trusted only can get the class? I think that would be better than vip.

Radio host is not that special to be vip job.

Why not? Gives more incentive to buy VIP, which gets the server more money to upgrade or stay around longer

Yea... but how good is it when people joins the server and they cant join a simple job as radio host because they didnt donate ..

(its free on another RP servers)

Maybe something like an f4 menu tab, just for radio, and when you get voted radio host, people request songs, and you play them for money($5-$10?).

I'd say like 30 to 100$ because winning 10$ for playing a 4 minutes song before being able to play another for more 10$ is almost no money.

I think he meant pay money to play them, which would make sense since radio stations IRL pay licensing fees for it, then they make it back via advertising.
Which ties in the possibility of adverts even more, no one advertises, no radio station.

If someone was to use it in a bad way a simple demote is easy, thats what its there for. You could do much worse abuse with CP doesnt mean you have to make that V.I.P, just demote the abuser.

I agree.

Stopping abuses is only part of the reason. Making it VIP gives more incentive to get vip to play the classes available, which gets the server more money

Do you think this server turn popular becuse this job turns to a vip job?

it would be bad becuse :

New players in the server cant join simple jobs like radio host... becuse they didnt donate....

Its free on another rp servers

... not a good idea to make a new server and give less jobs to new players

Its a good idea and I think (since its the one thing said) that it should be VIP, most of the jobs were free anyway and the only two I remember being VIP were CP jobs anyway.

If no mods or admins are on and no one is voting/Minges are down voting demotes then it would be easy for one to go host, hide a few radios (sometimes they troll in packs so even if its 1per person it might be a problem) spam voice if its a thing, play a crap song and repeat. Also would be hard to get evidence if you only take pics.

You could start with having it open to all and see if people will use it fairly
Even if its a simple job, I would love to see more VIP jobs

I am not a VIP, I'll say that up front
Also, you saying radio host isn't that special of your job is YOUR opinion(which I respect, not everyone will agree with me), and I, for one, have been on rp servers where radio host was allowed for everyone, and one that had it for VIP only

On the public one, 9/10 times it was a micspammer/annoying kid/troll spamming, and the admins either weren't there at the times or didn't care

On the VIP one, this happend maybe 2/10 times, and it was generally used well with rp

Also, I'm not saying to give new Players less jobs, but we should add more VIP jobs, and this, in my opinion, would be a good addition

Maybe, along with adding radios, we add something like a portable radio that players can take with them and listen to the radio as they walk the streets. So when a person buys this portable radio, it would add things to the F4 menu, like a button to toggle the radio being on or off, a slider to adjust volume, and a menu to suggest a new song to the radio host.

I myself support this job being 'VIP only' like may others do; it creates a new reason for players to donate to the server, which earns the server money. And just because a lot of other servers make this job free, that doesn't mean that we have to make it available to everyone. We want to make sure that minges can't abuse this job, and that if they want to they'll have to pay us first. We've got plenty of other jobs that kids can play on as they earn more money during their stay, and if they really want the VIP benefits they can donate. And while this job may be easy to abuse, it's nothing a good demote wouldn't solve.

If you make it VIP it could encourage players to donate. Although, they could go play any other RP server with a radio host where it is free and they don't have to donate. You could still make i trusted, people don't have to pay but we know that they are not a minge because they've been playing for a while.

The Radio host should be VIP only, that way we get a 99% guarantee that the job will be used properly. Also, it's another bonus for VIP which five more rewards for donating. = More Donators?
If it is given to the public, it is more than likely to be trolled be abused. Yes, we do have the demote button but that isn't the point, people's first impressions to the server are very important, and having kids trolling the radio job isn't good at all.

+1 for VIP because even if other servers have it free, people won't play on those servers because there is some kid on the radio who doesn't know what he's doing.

People tend to use it right I find

I found on other servers that they were playing really low quality music through a mic and it sounded like crap. It should be a rule to only play music through a mic if it sounds good.

The whole point of the radio mod is that they don't have to play music though a mic, music is streamed directly from YouTube onto a radio that is turned to 'on'

The server I experience has a really weird radio mod then. There was a microphone that they had to play music through their mic to. Also, some new people might not know that they have to get the songs off youtube? Unless there were some sort of instructions that a brain dead cactus would understand?
